Okay, I'm Out of Ideas. So Let's Just Talk About Our Gear. (No, Really.) -E

Hey everyone,

It’s Cute Cat from Two Stones, and I’m going to be brutally honest with you for a minute. I’ve been staring at this blank screen for what feels like an eternity. The pressure to write something earth-shattering, a blog post so brilliant it would magically make every climber on the planet see our vision... well, it’s kinda paralyzing.

So, I’m scrapping that plan.

Instead, I’m just going to talk to you like a fellow climber. I swiveled my chair away from the daunting emptiness of the document and looked at what’s actually *here*, in our space. The things we live and breathe. And my eyes landed on three core items: our chalk brush, our fingerboard, and our mug.

And I realized, maybe the magic isn't in some fancy, never-before-seen topic. Maybe it's in the gear we pour our hearts into. The stuff that supports your sending, your training, and your rest days.

So, here’s a no-fluff, no-BS look at three Two Stones products, from one climber to another.

1. The Two Stones Brush: It's Not Just a Dustpan for Your Hands.

Let’s start with the most humble workhorse in your kit: the chalk brush.

If you think a brush is just a brush, I’m here to (respectfully) tell you you’re wrong. We’ve all used those crappy, flimsy ones with bristles that go everywhere *except* on the hold. They feel like a child's toy in your hand. We were fed up. We wanted a tool, not a trinket.

Why We Built It This Way:

The Two Stones brush is built for the long haul. The handle is crafted from a single, solid piece of hardwood. It’s got a satisfying weight to it – it feels substantial and durable in your palm, not like it’s going to snap mid-crux. We shaped it to fit naturally in your grip, whether you're doing a delicate flick or a full-power sweep on a jug.

The bristles are the real hero. We use tough, natural boar bristles that are stiff enough to blast away chalk and grime from even the most textured holds, but they’re not so stiff that they’ll damage the rock or plastic. They’re anchored deeply, so you won’t find them littering your project.

Why It’s My Crag Essential:

This brush lives in my pack. It’s the first thing I pull out when I’m cleaning a hold to feel for that perfect micro-crimp. There’s a simple, profound satisfaction in using a tool that just *works*. The solid *thwack* sound it makes when you tap it against your leg to clean it… it just feels right. It’s a small piece of reliable kit that makes the process of working a route just a little bit better. It’s for the climber who appreciates quiet quality and hates gear that lets them down.

2. The Two Stones Fingerboard: Your Home Crag, Right Above the Doorway.

This one’s probably our most recognized piece of kit. But I’m not here to just show you another picture of it. I want to talk about why it’s a central part of our daily lives here at the workshop.

The Philosophy Behind the Wood:

A fingerboard shouldn’t be an instrument of torture. It should be a tool for mindful strength-building. That’s why we obsess over the wood. We use a premium, splinter-free hardwood that’s sanded to a smooth, skin-friendly finish. The edges of every hold – from the deep, welcoming jugs to the soul-crushingly small crimps – are meticulously beveled. This isn’t just for comfort; it’s to train your fingers to engage properly with an edge, mimicking real rock and reducing the risk of injury.

We designed the layout to be versatile. You can crush a powerful session on the pockets and edges, or you can use the variety of slopers to work on your open-hand strength and contact strength. It’s your personal, weather-proof training ground.

How It Fits Into *Your* Life:

You don’t need to be a pro. I use ours multiple times a day. Stuck on a work problem? *Hop up, dead hang for 30 seconds.* Waiting for the kettle to boil? *Quick set of repeaters on the 20mm edge.* It’s about integrating training into your life, not making it a chore. It’s the single best investment you can make for your finger strength, period. It’s for anyone who’s ever looked at a project and thought, "If only my fingers were a little stronger."

3. The Two Stones Mug: For When Your Hands Need a Rest Day, But Your Mind Doesn't.

Now, you might be wondering, "A mug? What's a mug got to do with climbing?"

Everything. And nothing.

This is our ode to the rest day. To the post-send euphoria and the pre-project psych session. And yes, we designed it with our climbing obsession in mind.

The "Eureka!" Moment:

One day, someone (probably while hanging off the fingerboard) said, "Wouldn't it be cool if your coffee mug felt like a hold?" And the idea was born. The handle of the Two Stones Mug isn’t just a handle; it’s a sculpted climbing hold.

More Than a Gimmick:

We crafted it to be a subtle, tactile reminder of the crag. As you wrap your fingers around it each morning, you’re engaging in a micro-training session. The shape is a comfortable, incut jug – the kind you dream of on a steep overhang. It’s a shape that welcomes your grip. It’s a moment of connection to climbing, even when you’re miles from the nearest rock.

But it’s also, first and foremost, a damn good mug. We made sure of that. It has the perfect weight and balance, a smooth glaze that feels great on your lips, and a c-curve shape that keeps your coffee hot. It’s for the early mornings staring at the weather forecast, the evenings planning the next trip, and for simply enjoying a warm drink with hands that are (finally) not screaming at you.

The Common Thread

So, there you have it. A brush that performs, a board that builds you up, and a mug that keeps you connected. At Two Stones, we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. We’re just a small team of climbers trying to make the best damn gear we can. Gear that’s functional, durable, and a joy to use.

We believe the tools you use every day—whether at the crag, in your home gym, or on your kitchen counter—should feel like partners in your journey, not just products.

Thanks for letting me cut the nonsense and just talk shop. Now, I’m going to go chalk up.
